• Constructed in 1965 along with 12,000 capacity Cowboy Stadium

  • Renovated in 1975 when Jack Doland was athletic director and head football coach

  • Field house was expanded with more office space, meeting rooms, a trophy room (now the defensive meeting room) and a larger weight room

  • Cowboy Stadium was enlarged to its 17,410 capacity

  • When Sonny Jackson came in 1987 he took the trophy room and lounge area and made it into two offices and the defensive meeting room and a semi lounge area

  • Field house has remained like that since

The field house was built over 40 years ago and except for an addition in 1975, has remained virtually unchanged despite the continued growth of the MSU athletic program. Originally designed to serve as the center of athletic activities for all of our athletes - male and female - the field house has become a literal and figurative eyesore.

The reality is our college athletes are using facilities that are sub-par when compared to even most area high schools.

One example is the lack of space in the current weight room. Because MSU athletic programs have grown since the field house was constructed, the current weight room is not even half the size it should be to accommodate the needs of our athletes. Because of space and time restraints, our athletes are forced to juggle their workouts around availability and their class schedules, limiting their performance.
